Signatory of the tribune of these sportsmen who want to prepare the next world, Corinne Gensollen, 52 years old, general director of Intersport France and Belgium and former marketing and commercial director at Olympique de Marseille (Editor's note: between 1999 and 2001 then from 2005 to 2016), explains on his behalf the reasons for his commitment.
How did the idea for this forum come about?
CORINNE GENSOLLEN. A small group of people has been working for several years to have sport recognized as a major player in society. This forum is an initiative of sport players (sportspeople, people from the sports movement or the sports industry). They wanted to create a collective which is an ecumenical and above all apolitical movement advocating the values of sport in order to allow people to live better together. Today, we want to do our part to build the society according to Covid-19, more human and generous.
What will be the consequences of the crisis on the ecosystem of French sport?
We observe on the four sports sectors, that is to say the sports movement (federation, Olympic committee, etc.), professional sport (clubs, ticketing receipts, etc.), sporting events and the sports industry (the brands, distributors, sports halls ...), a decline of 10 billion euros in the first half of 2020 if the crisis ends in early May. There is a real danger of having both an economic and societal crisis after a health crisis. Sport must be at the center of the game in the post-crisis period! We must relearn how to live better together through sport!
Can everyone in sport recover?
