Mardi 07 Avril 2020 24hcoronavirus
Morocco is approaching a crucial turning point in its fight against the epidemic of the new Coronavirus, said on Monday in Rabat, the head of government, Saad Eddine El Otmani, calling for the strengthening of respect for preventive measures and the monitoring of the directions of the public authorities .
Speaking at the opening of the meeting of the Government Council, El Otmani stressed that "the Kingdom has been able to cope, as far as possible", at this stage marked by a wide worldwide spread of the pandemic, which affects more than 200 countries, has made more than 1.25 million cases of contamination and caused more than 70,000 deaths, said a press release from the government spokesman, made public after the Council.
Today we are approaching a crucial turning point, even if the case evolution is average and we are still in stage 2, he insisted.
And this, while highlighting the efforts made to stem the pandemic, as well as "the strong mobilization, solidarity and commitment" shown by the Moroccan people.
El Otmani also stresses the need to continue mobilization to face this pandemic through vigilance and respect for the means of protection and prevention.
Several outbreaks have been registered in the family due to the organization of certain family ceremonies which do not take preventive measures into account, he noted.
However, the majority of the Moroccan people respect social distancing and preventive measures, just as they follow the directions of the public authorities.
All this remains insufficient, said El Otmani, insisting on the need to respect these measures more and reiterating his call to citizens to stay at home.
In his speech, El Otmani welcomed the mobilization of various stakeholders, including medical personnel and security services, as well as the industrial sectors for the development and adaptation of their production capacity in order to support the changes imposed by the epidemic.
The Head of Government indicated on this occasion that several small and medium-sized enterprises have, in this context, presented proposals which have been retained and supported by the government for
able to respond to the country's needs in this situation, claiming that several textile factories will produce nearly 2.5 million protective masks per day.
