CORONAVIRUS CARD. The questioning is in order after the broadcast of a video allegedly filmed in Wuhan, place of origin of the Covid-19 epidemic. A blogger assures that the epidemic is starting again in China. In Europe, the results are dramatic in Italy, Spain and France. The United States is also very affected with 2,000 additional deaths every day in the past two days.La carte du coronavirus dans le monde

What if the epidemic starts again in China? This catastrophic scenario is particularly feared by observers after the lifting of containment in recent days in Wuhan, epicenter of the Covid-19 epidemic last December. A Chinese blogger and activist who fled the country, Jennifer Zeng, released a video she claims to have been filmed in Wuhan in recent days. This video shows several men wearing overalls carrying what appears to be a body at night. For the blogger, no doubt: the authorities would discreetly exfiltrate the bodies so as not to question the line of "zero new cases" hammered in recent days by China. Mounted video, fake news or real info? For the time being, the authenticity of this video, already viewed almost a million times on the web, cannot be formally guaranteed. But Jennifer Zeng has won her bet: she has cast doubt on the situation of the Covid-19 in China.
At the same time, Spain continues to scrutinize the figures of the epidemic with attention every day, seeing with each drop in the number of dead a reason for hope. The containment of the Covid-19 epidemic is not yet perceptible, however. Admittedly the figures drop but 683 more people died within 24 hours according to the figures given at midday on Thursday 9 April. The milestone of 15,000 deaths since the start of the epidemic has been crossed. If Europe remains the epicenter of the Covid-19 epidemic with many countries strongly affected both in terms of the number of people infected with the coronavirus and in terms of death, the situation is also worsening in the United States with 2,000 additional daily deaths in the past two days. The world still expects to live difficult weeks between new infected people, additional deaths and confinement. In total, the global balance sheet shows more than 1,500,000 confirmed cases of Covid-18, including 88,529 deaths from the disease.
Globally, the consequences of this coronavirus pandemic are dramatic, both from a health and economic point of view. A global recession appears inevitable in 2020. The International Labor Organization evoking the most serious crisis in the job market since the Second World War, with 1.25 billion workers potentially affected. Daily life has been disorganized everywhere, the number of unemployed is increasing, half of humanity is forced to stay at home and "entire sectors of the national economy have been closed" or "directly affected" by the cessation of activity, says the World Trade Organization (WTO). Trade could fall dramatically to "double digits" in "almost all regions" of the planet, warned the WTO on Wednesday. "This could constitute a global decline of ten years in the fight against poverty, and a decline of 30 years in certain regions such as in sub-Saharan Africa, in the Middle East or in North Africa", adds the organization .
Coronavirus in Spain
Spain is the third most bereaved country after Italy and the United States. After several consecutive days of decline in the number of deaths related to coronavirus, the balance sheet started to rise again on Wednesday. Small reason for hope, it fell again this Thursday, April 9. The figures transmitted at midday are 683 deaths in 24 hours for a total of more than 15,000 deaths (15,238). Especially the number of new cases of Covid-19 decreases (5756 all the same). Since the start of the epidemic, more than 150,000 Spaniards have been tested positive, making it the second country after the United States in terms of contamination. According to WHO Europe, "Now is not the time to relax the measures." But confinement would still begin to bear fruit, with the effect of a reduction in hospital tension in Spain. The number of new hospitalizations is slowing down, which could mechanically reduce the number of deaths in a few days, since these often occur after several days or weeks of hospitalization.
The pressure drops slightly in Spanish hospitals which were more than overwhelmed a few days ago, but the situation remains tense. "Although slowly, a certain drop in pressure is starting to be observed in hospitals and intensive care units," notes Dr Maria José Sierra, of the Spanish Health Alert Center. At Vall d'Hebron hospital, the largest in Barcelona, "we had up to 24 new patients a day two days in a row," says department head Ricard Ferrer, who also spoke of a stabilized situation. But "we are still expecting one or two very critical weeks".
While the containment measures taken on March 14 in the country begin to have a positive effect on the fight against the coronavirus, since mid-March, the Spanish have been confined and cannot leave the house only to buy food, for health reasons, and to get their dog out quickly. The head of government Pedro Sanchez announced this weekend the extension of the measures until April 25 inclusive at least to slow the epidemic of Covid-19.
At the end of March, the Spanish government also decreed that all "non-essential activity" is now prohibited, only the food, health, public transport, media, banking and part of the administration sectors are allowed to open. The rest had to lay off their workers. Funeral ceremonies have also been prohibited, limiting the number of people who may be present at a funeral to three. And finally, since Sunday March 29, the country's borders are closed. It is no longer possible to return to Spanish territory, except for medical staff, journalists and trucks transporting food.
Coronavirus in Italy
The situation remains catastrophic with 139,422 people infected. Italy remains the most bereaved country in the world by coronavirus, and today deplores more than 17,000 deaths linked to Covid-19. But hope is reborn in the country, and the latest figures published are rather encouraging. This Wednesday, 542 additional deaths were recorded in 24 hours, a total of 17,669 victims of coronavirus in the country. A daily balance down for 3 days. Confinement would thus begin to bear fruit, with the effect of a reduction in hospital tension, the number of patients (3,693 patients) in intensive care decreasing for the fifth consecutive day. This could automatically lower the number of deaths after a certain delay, with deaths often occurring after several days of hospitalization, or even weeks. In particular, the situation in Rome has stabilized. After the intense period of March, things seem to have improved for the past few days with "a slight drop in the number of admissions," says Girolamo De Andreis, nursing coordinator at Tor Vergata hospital in the east of the capital. Italian.
But the crisis is far from over. If the results start to be encouraging, we must not let go of the efforts made for weeks and continue to apply precautionary measures to avoid a second wave of the pandemic. "The only weapon we have is social distancing, respect for the rules. We must not think we have won the battle," said Health Minister Roberto Speranza on Tuesday. Italy knows it has "a few more difficult months" ahead of it, he insisted. "The emergency is not over. The danger has not disappeared. We still have a few difficult months ahead of us, do not spoil the sacrifices made." "We must not lower our guard," confirmed Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.
